Curriculum Requirements

The College of Arts & Sciences

To graduate from the College with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.), a student must satisfy all general education and major requirements.

  • Once a student matriculates, they must complete all general education requirements with College of Arts and Science courses.
  • Generally, all major and minor requirements must be completed with courses taken at Paths University of Africa. Exceptions must be approved by the major or minor department.
  • College students must complete the requirements for one major to receive the B.A. or the B.S.
  • Some students choose to add a second College major.
  • Minors are not required for the degree, but a student may complete up to two minors, at least one of which must be in the College.

Students must complete approved coursework and meet minimum credit expectations to qualify for graduation.

Academic Standing

GPA Requirements

To earn a degree, a student must have earned a grade point average of at least 2.0 on all graded courses taken at Paths University of Africa and offered for a degree.

Completion Timeline

Semester Limits

  • Generally, College students must complete their degree in 8 full-time semesters, with correspondingly less time for transfer students.
  • Semesters in which a student withdraws from enrollment or is on a Leave of Absence do not count as one of the 8 full-time semesters.
  • Part-time and Summer Session enrollment also does not count in this total.
  • Students who believe they may require a 9th full-time semester should discuss this with their Advising Dean as soon as possible.

Tracking Your Degree Progress

Students are responsible for tracking their own progress toward the degree by using the PathsU Student LMS Portal. Students are also encouraged to meet with their Advising Dean to review progress toward degree completion.
